WeRide Begins Commercial Robotic Taxi Operations in Abu Dhabi

-

WeRide, a Chinese self-driving vehicle technology company, announced on Monday that it has received the world’s first city-level L4 driverless transportation license outside the United States, approved by the Federal Government of the United Arab Emirates.

This license allows WeRide to operate commercial robotaxi transportation services without drivers in Abu Dhabi. The license was approved by RegLab, which operates under the UAE Cabinet Secretariat, and will initially be available through the Uber and TXAI platforms. As of October, WeRide’s robotaxi fleet in Abu Dhabi has a service range of nearly one million kilometers.
